Cappawhite played to their potential against Emly

Report by John O’Shea

Cappawhite registered their first victory in the Maria Marron Palmers Hill Stud West Junior A Football championship with a good second half display over Emly at Cappawhite on Friday evening.

The open half was even and entertaining with Emly getting most of the possession. An Oisin Fawl goal three minutes before the interval gave them a slight advantage coming up to the break, but Kevin Stapleton got in for a Cappa goal in injury time to give the home side a two-point advantage at the break, Cappawhite 1.7, Emly 1.5.

The second half continued to produce good football, but goals from Noel Ryan and Gearoid Lennon early on proved to be the difference between the sides. It’s all to play for with both sides still in contention for a semi-final place.
