Tipperary are going from strength to strength all season after winning a Munster final for the first time since 2010 and then blitzing Antrim to qualify for the All-Ireland semi final next weekend but they will have to plan without one of the key players now.
Caoimhe Bourke has marshalled the goals superbly well all season for Tipperary but the Drom Inch star picked up a serious leg injury against Kilkenny in their recent game and the news has now emerged that Caoimhe suffered a tear to her cruciate ligament in that game.
Rehabilitation will take a number of months as the goalkeeper is due to undergo surgery in the coming weeks and then the rehabilitation begins.
The news is disappointing for all Tipperary camogie and is a major setback to Denis Kellys side who have enjoyed the steady play of their number one.
Deputising last time out against Antrim was Aine Slattery and now the Shannon Rovers keeper will assume the mantle and take over the position for the rest of the year.
We would like to extend our best wishes to Caoimhe as she undergoes her recovery.
