Golden/Kilfeacle got their Tipperary Co-Op West Junior B Hurling Championship campaign up and running with a comprehensive six-point victory over Lattin/Cullen at Golden on Saturday evening.

In a game that was slow to settle, Lattin got the scoreboard ticking over after six minutes when Adam Lohan put over at the near end.

Both sets of forwards were guilty of wayward shooting in front of goal as the wides tally built up.

Aaron Colohan equalised from a placed ball before Pat Power gave Lattin the lead for the second time on eleven minutes. This would be the last time in the game that they would hit the front, as Golden settled and upped their game.

They were dealt a blow at the end of the first quarter when Aaron Colohan was forced to leave the field with an injury following a heavy tackle, but points from Lee Hayes, Kevin Hally and John Colohan kept them to the fore.

Lattin were over dependent on the free-taking of Pat Power to keep them in touch, as Golden enjoyed a five-point advantage at the break, 0-9 to 0-4.

The home side kept up the momentum after the break, with Lee Hayes putting over some good frees, while Kevin Hally and John Colohan added scores from open play, as they eventually ran out winners by 0-16 to 0-10.

Their advancement to the knockout stages will depend on the result of their final game, where they will play Sean Treacys. Lattin Cullen cannot now make the quarter-final following two defeats.
