A Tipperary County Championship Road Race held at Ballynonty a few years back
Athletes from all over county Tipperary, and adjoining counties, will descend on Ballynonty village for the staging of Sean Healy 5K Road Race on this Friday September 1.
In keeping with tradition, the popular annual event has attracted a huge entry and the organisers, the Ballynonty Community Field Committee, will continue to take entries right up to Friday.
The local community has pulled out all the stops in their preparations for an event which fondly remembers the late and great Sean Healy. An accomplished athlete in his heyday, Sean was a renowned community activist, affectionately dubbed 'Mr Ballynonty' by his many friends and admirers.
The much anticipated race and family fun walk starts outside the former 'Jury Room' premises at 6.45pm.
The Sean Healy Memorial Trophy will be presented to the winner of the race, while attractive prizes will go to the first three women and men to cross the finishing line. Similarly, in the fun walk prizes will be given to the first three finishers. Raffle prizes will be up for grabs on the evening, and refreshments will be served on what promises to be a great social occasion. Entry fees - Adults €10, children U/16 free.
