Vale Oil Qualifier
The Vale Oil Qualifier on 25 August saw Cathal Hurley take top spot on 43, with Mike A Moloney beaten into second place on 43 on countback.
Weekend Singles
In the Men’s Weekend Singles Competition, Andrew O’Donovan was top dog on 41. Best Gross was Ian McLoughlin with 29, while Declan McAssey took runners-up spont on 41 after a countback.
Monday Mixed
In Monday’s Mixed Competition, John Doyle, Connor Dunlea and Mary Butler took top spot on 35.6. William McGarry, Trevor Gough and Ann O’Dea took second on 36.4, while Herbie Buck, David Brabston and Gabrielle Scofield took 3rd on 36.7.

Seniors Away Game in Thurles
Monday also saw the Seniors play their Away Game in Thurles, in fine weather.
The Champagne Scramble was played as the Annual Perry Cup Competition - the trophy having been donated by Alice Perry, widow of the late Billy. The Competition was won on 97 points (with 48 on the back 9) by Ciaran Bolton, Michael Kenrick and Patrick Moloney.
Second with 97 points (45 on the back 9) were Kevin Corry, Tony Condon and Michael Dunlea, while third spot was taken by John Lacy, Davy Williams and Jackie O’Dwyer on 94.
Stuart Perry, son of Billy and himself a former Captain of Slievenamon Golf Club, was on hand to present the trophy to the winning team.
Wins for Carmel and Patricia
The Ladies Sunday/Tuesday 18 Hole Stableford Competition was won by Carmel Condon on 37 points, while May O’Brien took second place on 37 points after a countback.
Meanwhile the Tuesday 9 Hole Stableford competition was won by Patricia Whooley on 15 points.
SENIORS
Wednesday the Seniors were back on home turf to play a Scramble in blazing sunshine. Winners were Pat Johnson, Robert Phelan and Jackie O’Dwyer on 60.4. Second place went to Eamon Power, Mick Burke and Tony Falvey, while third spot went to John O’Sullivan, Bobby Barry and Michael Dunlea on 62.6.
Michael Doyle wins McGarry Cup
Wednesday also saw the decider in the long fought McGarry Cup Competition, when last men standing, Maurice Ridley and Michael Doyle faced off like two grizzled gunfighters duking it out in the midday sun, eyes creased against the sunshine, trigger fingers itching over their trusty drivers. In the end it was Michael Doyle who took the honours after a fantastic match And so another legend is born!
Thursday win for Marlene McEvoy
Thursday saw Marlene McEvoy take the honours in the Ladies 12 Hole Stableford.
Pauline Lucey takes Carrigan Cup
Finally on Sunday our Ladies competed for the Carrigan Cup in an 18 Hole Stroke Match. Pauline Lucey carried off the cup with a score of 69, beating Carmel Condon into 2nd place on 70. Paula Spillane took Gross on 91. Kathy Cleary took 3rd place on 72. Joan Morrisey won the Front 9 on 34.5 while Kathleen Kelly took the back 9 on 36.
President’s Weekend
All eyes now are on the upcoming President’s Weekend, which will be taking place next weekend 9/10 September. Will Pat Slattery and Pauline Lucey sweep the boards? They seem unstoppable at the moment, but who knows …
