Clonmel Credit Union League Division

Suirside 1 – 2 Powerstown
The home side started this game in fine form and were dominant in the first ten minutes, unlucky not to take the lead when a Mike Barr effort went narrowly wide of the post. Paul Kennedy also saw an effort shave the outside of the Powerstown goal, as the Clonmel side were forced into some last ditch defending to keep the game at parity.
But they eventually settled and in the 13th minute, Darren Murphy picked up a ball just inside the home half and he took on the defence before cutting inside and flashing home a shot to give Powerstown an unlikely lead.
Knocked by this, the home side pushed hard to get a goal back and thought they had one ten minutes before the break, only to see their effort called back for a foul after Oisin Ryan had finished brilliantly into the corner of the net.
That was the last of the action in the first half and the home side started the second half the better again, but again they were caught upfield when an attack broke down and the visitors quickly countered to feed David Grace to beat the home keeper from close in.
Within minutes however, Suirside pulled a goal back, when Paul Kennedy headed an effort to the net to reduce the deficit to the minimum.
The home side went on all out attack to try to find that equaliser and were unlucky with Shane Ryan and Kennedy going close, but in the end, they were not able to find a goal, and had to watch Powerstown make a winning start to their first ever Second Division campaign.
