A student takes on a gaming challenge at TUS on culture Night
Culture night saw a huge variety of events held all over Ireland.
One of the events held in Clonmel took place at the TUS Campus and included a variety of activities for both young and old.
TUS offers innovative degrees in Game Art and Design, Digital Animation, Creative Media and Visual Effects for Film, TV and Animation, with students coming from a variety of different countries specifically for those courses.
Anyone attending the event was first greeted by very helpful and friendly staff who were always ready and willing to answer any questions you may have had.
There were three large rooms in the main building dedicated to the event, and each one was based off of different sections from the courses taken by the students on campus.
When studying Game Art and Design, the course first looks at the basics of what makes a game fun and interesting for the gamer.
VIDEO GAMES
To do this, it starts with popular board games and video games, and that is what was in the first room, with classic games like Monopoly and Mario Kart ready to be played.
HIGH QUALITY
The second room had more video games, but this time they were designed by the Third Years taking the course.
This was particularly impressive as the games were of a very high quality, and there was something there for younger kids, or a horror game for the thrill seeking, more mature gamer.
RIVER SUIR
The third room was what you could probably refer to as the main event of the night, with an immersive virtual reality experience simulating a kayaking trip down the Suir, designed by students at TUS.
A class was held by a qualified kayaking instructor from Pure Adventure using this virtual simulation. All this combined with the pizza supplied by TUS made for a very enjoyable Culture Night event.
