Reigning champions Fethard, who will put their county senior crown on the line against last year’s beaten finalists Brian Borus
The meeting of Fethard and Brian Borus in Sunday’s County Senior Ladies Gaelic Football (LGFA) final at Tipperary Town at 4pm is a repeat of last year’s epic decider, when Fethard famously won their first senior title.
It will be a hectic weekend for ladies football in Fethard, with their junior team also preparing for a county final, against Rockwell Rovers, on Saturday in Cappawhite at 12 noon.
Their Under 14s also have a county semi-final to look forward to, with the date and venue to be decided.
As part of the county final weekend, the Fethard club has organised a Bumper Split the Pot Draw, with a minimum guarantee of €1,000 to the winner and a second prize of €20. Tickets are available online at https://member.clubspot. app/club/fethard-lgfa/ fundraisers.
Tickets cost €2 each or three for €5. The club is also offering recurring payments for its Split the Pot promotion, which is held every two weeks. So for just €1 a week you can enter Split the Pot, which has been a great benefit to the ladies club, which includes juvenile teams.
The club caters for large numbers of players from Under 6s and Under 8s all the way up to senior, including two teams competing at Under 12 level up to Under 21 over the past few years.
Fethard recently hosted a Munster football blitz at Fethard Town Park, in which 41 teams from all around Munster participated.
Fethard LGFA are 20 years old this year, and as part of the celebrations the club held a Bernadette Stocksborough tournament within the club, comprising teams made up of its Under 12s and Under 14s. Former club members were also invited along to celebrate the event, with a barbecue held on the day also. Bernadette was a former secretary of the club who is sadly missed and fondly remembered.

On Sunday Fethard, who beat Galtee Rovers in the last four, can expect a tough encounter with Brian Borus, who reached the final courtesy of their 2-9 to 1-6 defeat of Moyle Rovers in the semi-final.
Brian Borus had notable displays in the semi-final from midfielder Cliona O’Dwyer, Maureen Murphy and Aisling Ryan, who scored a superb goal to put them in the driving seat at half-time when they led by 1-7 to 0-2.
Laura Morrissey, Helen Burke and Sarah English were also to the fore for a Brian Borus team that will be looking to avenge last year’s defeat by Fethard.
