Carrick Aldo cruises into the final
Tipperary trainer Graham Holland trained Jacktavern Bolt, the dog that has secured a spot into the final of the 2023 Bar One Racing Irish Laurels in superior fashion on Saturday night and remains the outright favourite with the sponsors.
A great crowd gathered at Curraheen Park to watch the two semi-finals with Jacktavern Bolt dominating the field to win his heat by a length and a half in a time of 28.20.
It was his ninth win in a row with Bar One Racing reacting to the victory by cutting his odds into 5/4 from 3/1 favourite to win the €30,000 prize for The Pillar syndicate.
The John A. Linehan trained Easy Razzle grabbed second place with her odds clipped into 7/1 from 16/1 while third place Glory Baz is 7/1 from 8/1 for trainer Graham Holland.
The second semi-final was just as exciting as the David Murray trained Carrick Aldo returned to winning ways and managed to clock an identical time to Jacktavern Bolt with a fast 28.20. The sponsors now make this speedy son of Droopys Sydney – Minnies Hazel 2/1 from 7/2 to win the title.
Carrick Aldo was four and a half lengths clear of the Graham Holland trained High Trend with his odds cut into 6/1 from 8/1. Role Model was another half a length back in third for trainer Owen McKenna with her chances rated as the 14/1 outsider of the field.
