The winning Nenagh team
From their position at the top of the Munster league table, the Nenagh HC U18 team was keen to put in a strong performance this weekend.
Tipperary HC always present a challenge and this game was always pegged to be a good contest. Tipperary started the stronger of the two teams with Nenagh looking very sluggish out of the blocks.
The Nenagh side seemed to come to life in the second quarter and began contesting every ball and eventually earned themselves the two excellent well worked goals finished beautifully by Star forward Katya Shorten.
Tipperary started the second half well but a strong defensive effort by Nenagh's back three of Ava Collins, Talitha Williams and Oriana O' Brien denied them several shots on goal.
Nenagh continued to press the Tipperary defense with forward Kate O'Flaherty putting in a super performance playing some wonderful hockey.
Tipperary continued to press forwards but couldn't crack the Nenagh defense for the duration of the encounter. Nenagh sealed the game with a third stunning goal from Shorten.
The game finished 3-0 to Nenagh. They remain top of the league table ahead of their next game away to Bandon on Nov 26th.
