Hundreds of customers across County Tipperary have woken up without power in their homes and businesses this morning as Storm Gerrit departs Ireland.
The storm brought incredibly high winds and heavy showers to Ireland over the last 48 hours, and as a result, around 500 homes and businesses in County Tipperary were left without power as ESB crews worked to restore power to the areas affected.
The areas in County Tipperary most notably impacted by power outages are Deerpark with 253 customers currently without power, Holycross Road currently has 123 customers waiting for power restoration, while Kyleeragh has 125 customers without power.
The time ESB hopes to have the power restored at varies across the areas. The estimated time for power to be restored on Holycross Road was stated to be between 11:15 am and 12:30 pm today, while Kyleeragh had power back at noon, while a later time of 5 pm is estimated for homes and businesses impacted in Deerpark.
Although Storm Gerrit is departing Ireland, Met Éireann is still promising wet and windy weather for 2023.
Meanwhile, a Status Orange rainfall warning has been issued for Kerry and West Cork which will also stay in place until midnight.
An additional Status Orange wind warning is in place until 6 am Thursday morning in Clare and Galway.
The Gardaí and the Road Safety Authority (RSA) have urged people to drive with caution during the turbulent weather that is currently hitting Ireland and to beware of flooding and fallen trees on local roads.
