County Handball Cumann na mBunscoil Finals were full of skills and thrills

The County Handball Cumann na mBunscoil Finals were a massive success this year where they were hosted by Youghalarra & Nenagh Clubs.

Overall 14 schools entered the various competitions resulting in 57 players taking part and 33 games played with clubs from across the county represented.

The list of schools taking part includes Carrig, Boher, Newport, Ballina, CBS Nenagh, Gaelscoil Nenagh, BNS Cashel, Burgess, Lissenhall, Ardcroney, Kilruane, Silvermines, St Marys Carrick on Suir & Gaelscoil Carrick on Suir which proves the popularity of the sport.

After some exciting games of handball in both venues with some games going to tie breaksthe excitement continued to build ahead of the finals which were held in Nenagh.

There was much joy and celebration with a huge following for the players and now the winners will go forward to represent Tipperary Schools in the Munster Finals. THere is the results of the finals:

Girls U11 Doubles Emily Monaghan & Lucia Neary Ballina N.S. Bt Emma Gavin & Edie Quinlan Lissenhall 11/2, 11/7

Boys U11Doubles Alfie Finn & Conor Nolan Gaelscoil C-O-Suir bt Cathal Carmody & Jim Cullinane Carrig 10/11, 11/3

BU13S Ben Platt Lissenhall N.S. Bt Josh O Mahony Newport N.S. 11/5, 11/1

Girls U13D Aishling Ryan & Lucy Ann Cleary Gaelscoil Nenagh Bt Jenny Talbot & Maeve Hanrahan Carrig N.S. 11/5, 11/6

BU13D Tadhg Malone & Jim O Mahony Newport N.S. Bt James O Shea & Charlie Walsh St Marys C-O-Suir 11/8, 11/7 We still have the Girls U13 Singles to play off as it clashed with the Irish Nationals and final will be played in Nenagh on Friday night.

All the winners and runners up were presented with medals from Tipperary CNB Co-Ordinator Paddy Collins. The referees at the competitions were David Kyne, Martin Spain, Tom Boland & Paddy Collins. Also playing a vital role was Eamon Spillane & Karen Monaghan and to Mary Collins who ensured the event went smoothly.
