Caoimhe Perdue was on the Irish team that secured a spot in the elite tier of European hockey for 2025
2023 was a year when Caoimhe Perdue’s star continued in the ascendancy.
Her progress has been rewarded with an Annerville sports award, sponsored by Bulmers, which she will receive from the Tipperary United Sports Panel at the Talbot Hotel Clonmel next Saturday night.
In June she was part of the Irish team that drew with the United States over the two-game home series ahead of the European Championship.
A month later she joined the Irish side for the international series at the Sport Ireland campus for matches against Chile, France and Italy.
The young Cashel woman was on the Irish team that travelled to Monchengladbach in Germany to play in the European Championship in August. Ireland secured fifth place, which sealed the country’s place in the Olympic qualification groups (where Ireland were beaten by Great Britain), and a spot in the elite tier of European hockey in 2025.
In November, Caoimhe cemented her place in the Irish squad by travelling to Barcelona to play Spain in preparation for those Olympic qualifiers. Ireland played two games, winning one and losing one.
Away from the international scene, she moved to the Division One Loreto Hockey Club and bolstered the forces of the club’s firsts team that made an unbeaten start to the EY Women’s Irish Hockey League, the premier league competition in Ireland.
