Snow and Ice Warnings extended by Met Eireann as parts of Ireland see heavy snowfall
Met Eireann has extended Snow and Ice Warnings to much of the country is warning of icy stretches, poor visibility and hazardous driving conditions. A separate Ice Warning comes into effect tonight for all of Ireland.
A series of weather warnings have been issued covering all of Ireland.
A Status Yellow Snow-Ice warning is in place for Cavan, Monaghan, Dublin, Kildare, Longford, Westmeath, Wicklow, Leitrim, Roscommon and Sligo with Met Eireann warning that falls of sleet and snow may lead to temporary accumulations
That warning ends at 12pm on Friday.
A Status Yellow Snow-Ice Warning for Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wexford, Wicklow and all of Munster comes into place at noon and remains in place until 6pm.
Met Eireann is warning that a band of rain will continue to move southwards, turning to sleet and snow in places. this could lead to icy stretches on untreated surfaces, poor visibility and hazardous travelling conditions
A Status Yellow Ice warning for all of Ireland will be in place from 6pm on Friday until 9am on Saturday. Met Eireann is warning that it will be cold tonight with ice on untreated surfaces leading to hazardous travelling conditions.
A Status Yellow Rain warning for Dublin, Louth, Meath and Wicklow remains in place until 3am on Saturday.
