Put simply, business really matters in the current challenging global economy. The role of business is to enable commerce and to make the world a better place for all – by creating wealth, jobs, prosperity and choices.

The Bachelor of Business Honours degree programme at the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) Thurles Campus is one of the newest business degree programmes providing students with the depth and breadth of knowledge and skills to work effectively at operational and management level within a business environment in the public or private sector or as a self-employed individual.

The Business Degree educates students in a broad range of business principles and functions, providing a solid understanding of the modern business world. Coupled with an opportunity to undertake a semester long work placement during third year means that, on graduation, students are equipped with the necessary core knowledge and skills to contribute immediately and effectively to any organisation.

The general business structure of the programme enables students to progress to a career within a wide and diverse range of industries where a sound knowledge of relevant business, marketing, management and accounting & finance principles is seen as an asset. Specific job titles suitable to high caliber graduates include: Marketing Executive, Brand Manager, Business Analyst, Finance Analyst, Human Resource Manager, Teacher, Accountant and Public Relations Officer.

The Bachelor of Business degree at TUS Thurles campus uses sound educational principles and emphasizes application, to ensure that graduates are effective practitioners and confident learners. In all, graduates will receive a package of skills and capabilities far beyond knowledge specific competence and will be confident in communications, conceptual thinking enquiry and the use of technology.
