Strings & Things are a high octane four piece who reside in Thurles, Tipperary.
Their makeup of musical instruments include guitar, banjo, mandolin, whistle, cajon and bass, which in turn helps to deliver a sound that could only be described as something out of the ordinary, but refreshing nonetheless.
Coming from all kinds of musical backgrounds, the four lads use their experience in different genres to also give their music a signature sound.
Elements of rock, pop, trad, folk and even funk help to set the stage for what can only be described as Strings & Things.
Following the release of their first album, Turbulence, in 2017, Strings & Things have since released a new album in 2021 called The Unsolicited Dance.
With almost two years of planning and recording, the band strived to make this album stand out from their last, bringing diversity, nuance, as well as something different to the ever-growing world of traditional Irish and Folk music.
There is something for everyone in this album, with a range of themes, as well as each song telling a different story.
The band has a collection of singles released on an EP in 2023 called Re: Works.
This EP is made up of five songs that the band had recorded on a previous album and an EP that they felt needed a fresh lift with the sound they now possess. Currently three singles have been released.
Too Much to Ask, which asks for better, clearer days, Day in the Life highlights the everyday work mode and looking forward to the weekend and Take the Time tells the story of being on the road and taking on the journey.
Strings & Things have headlined a number of venues throughout the past two years, such as Fibber Magee’s in Dublin City, Monroe’s in county Galway and Pharmacia in county Limerick.
The band have also played a number of events and festivals, including Bloom Festival, The Guinness Stage at the All Ireland Fleadh in Mullingar, as well as the Feile in Thurles, Tipperary.
Later in 2022, the band completed a European Tour, which spanned three countries over five days.
The tour began in Normandy in France, which followed with two shows in Poole and Camden in the United Kingdom.
The tour came to a close in Ireland with two shows in Ireland, one in Drogheda and the final one in Galway City.
2023 was a busy year for the band, returning to Florida to play in Raglan Road for two week long tours and gigging up and down the country, entertaining punters for the rest of the year, with 2024 filled with an exciting lineup of shows.
