Tipperary's U16 team claim hard fought win over Limerick in preliminary Munster round

Munster U16A Camogie Championship - Preliminary Round

Tipperary 0-11

Limerick 0-7

Due to the dreadful weather and the availability of pitches both games were switched to the UL Astro-Turf Pitch in Limerick with the A team out first for a 3.15 pm throw-in time. In an evenly contested first half the sides went in at the break 6 points apiece.

However, Limerick proved to be the more physically stronger and dangerous in attack and came away with a four-point victory.

Limerick raised their performance after the restart and hit Tipperary with three points in succession to give them a three-point lead (0-9 to 0-6) after nine minutes.

Tipp responded with a point a minute later but unfortunately, this was to be their final score of the half as they failed to get to grips with a strong Limerick outfit and missed some scoring opportunities to narrow their lead.

Best for Tipperary on the day was Isabelle Kingston, Doireann Ryan, and Ciara Cahill. Their attention now turns to the All-Ireland championship which begins with a home game against Limerick once again on the May 4th.

Tipperary: Rosin Ferncombe; Evanne Gleeson, Ella Frend, Leah Maher; Kellie O’Dwyer, Ciara Cahill, Eavann Duffy; Emma Kennedy (0-1), Nessa Dwan; Jessie Shanahan (0-1), Isabelle Kingston (0-1), Emma Bonnar, Erin O’Donnell, Doireann Ryan (0-1), Grace Cleary (0-3, 0-2f).

Subs used: Clodagh Shinners for Erin O’Donnell; Grace Stapleton for Grace Cleary.
