The Thomas MacDonagh Hedge School has announced that Daniel Mulhall will be a keynote speaker in 2024.
Mulhall is a retired diplomat who has served as Ireland's Ambassador in Kuala Lumpur, Berlin, London and Washington, and was a member of the Irish Government’s delegation at the negotiations that produced the Good Friday Agreement of 1998.
A highlight of the museum’s cultural programme, the second Thomas MacDonagh Hedge School takes place from September 18 to 22 2024 in the Thomas MacDonagh Museum in Cloughjordan.
The theme for this year’s Hedge School programme is “Revival and Rebellion: Politics and the Arts – Ireland in Review”
Eleanor Hooker, programme curator said: “After the success of the inaugural Thomas MacDonagh Hedge School last year, it is a great honour to again curate the programme for 2024. We are thrilled that prestigious writers and scholars, which include Daniel Mulhall and Fergal Keane, have agreed to join us in Cloughjordan and we look forward to sharing the programme with you."
"The theme this year is inspired by MacDonagh’s central role in the arts and politics of his time; evident in his work as contributor and editor of The Irish Review during its brief four year run,” she said.
