Tipperary athlete Sharlene Mawdsley makes her Olympic debut this evening in Paris.

The Newport AC sprinter will be part of the Ireland Mixed 4x400m relay team who are in this evening’s semi-final in Paris.

The 25-year-old was not selected for Team Ireland at the Tokyo Games despite playing a part in helping Ireland qualify for the games, meaning tonight’s race will be her first appearance at the Olympics.

The heats get underway at 6.10 pm with Ireland in Heat 2 – the top three progress to Saturday’s final alongside the two fastest qualifiers across the two heats.
