The rugby season is here and right away Munster are rearing to go as the Munster team has been named for Saturday’s Vodafone Women’s Interprovincial Round 1 clash with Ulster in Virgin Media Park (2.30pm).
Newly-appointed Head Coach Fiona Hayes has named back-row Chloe Pearse as captain for the duration of the tournament. Up front, Siobhán McCarthy packs down with hooker Beth Buttimer and Éilis Cahill.
McCarthy will make her first appearance for Munster since September 2021.
Clodagh O’Halloran and Claire Bennett back them up in the second row while Brianna Heylmann, Jane Clohessy and captain Chloe Pearse make up the back-row.
Muirne Wall and Kate Flannery retain their half-back partnership after having great success together at UL Bohemian RFC. In the midfield, Enya Breen makes her return after a positive Six Nations as she pairs up with Stephanie Nunan.
Speedster Chisom Ugwueru occupies one wing while Alana McInerney takes up the other. Eimear Considine starts at full-back after overcoming an ACL injury last season.
Replacements Emma Dunican, Ciara O’Dwyer, Ciara McLoughlin, Annakate Cournane and Lucia Linn are all in line to make their senior debuts for Munster off the bench.
