With 13 runners punters are hoping to beat the bookies with Percussion slightly tipped in BoyleSports Grand Sefton

Runners declared for the big race this Saturday which looks wide open

I Am Maximus was the big winner at Aintree last April.

Latenightpass has been installed as the 6/1 joint-favourite alongside Frero Banbou by title sponsor, BoyleSports, ahead of Saturday’s Grand Sefton at Aintree.

A field of thirteen has been confirmed for the feature race on the card after declarations were made on Thursday, with 2022 Foxhunters’ winner Latenightpass hoping to record a second win over course and distance.

The Venetia Williams-trained Frero Banbou is set for a return to the National fences having finished third in the 2023 renewal, while last year’s runner-up Percussion is the antepost liability having been backed from 10/1 into 7/1.

Grade 3 winner and Galway Plate runner-up Authorized Art is an eyecatcher amongst the outsiders at 14/1 on what will be his second start for the Gary Moore yard having previously been with Willie Mullins, while the sole Irish raider, Phillip Rothwell’s Galon de Vauzelle, will have to overcome odds of 25/1 to take the winning prize back to Ireland.

Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: “There’s nothing that gets your adrenaline pumping like a race over the National fences and this year’s BoyleSports Grand Sefton is shaping up to be a cracker. Punters are snapping up the early prices about course specialist, Percussion, who was so close last year and could hit all the right notes on Saturday.”
