Preparations are underway for the Christmas Market in a Tipperary town

This group enjoyed the Christmas Market at the Kickham Plaza last year

Excitement is mounting as preparations are underway for another wonderful Christmas Market on the Kickham Plaza in Clonmel.

Last year the two day event was a huge success and this year it is even going to be bigger and better.  Local artisans have booked slots to showcase and sell their beautiful products ranging from dried flower arrangements, jewellery, candles, local honey, hampers, handmade hurleys, cheese, perfumes, pottery, handmade decorations, wood turning etc etc. Homemade confectionery and coffee docks, as well as a new addition of a hot food stall and hot mulled apple juice ensures people can come, chat, mingle and have breakfast or lunch on the plaza and take their time browsing around the stalls and choosing some beautiful Christmas gifts.

A Christmas Market would not be a Christmas Market without Santa, who has promised to spend the weekend in Clonmel to meet the wonderfully, well behaved children of Tipperary.

After hearing how good they were last year, Mrs. Claus decided she had to meet these fabulous children, following an invitation from the South Tipperary Arts Centre.  She urges all children to come along to the Plaza and join her for festive stories and songs in the STAC Chapel. This will be a free drop-in event and suitable for children of all ages.

Live entertainment will add to the festive atmosphere as students from the High School, Presentation Secondary School, the Gael Cholaiste and Loreto Secondary School take to the stage with an array of talented musical performances.  Due to popular demand the St. Peter & Paul Primary School Band will also perform as well as the Clonmel Community Choir.

The Christmas Market will take place on Kickham Plaza from 10am - 4pm on the 14th and 15th December.  A more detailed itinerary of events with exact times of entertainment will follow, but for now put these dates in your diary to ensure you don’t forget what promises to be another successful festive Christmas Market.
