Imelda Cummins-DeMelkon was born and raised in Thurles and is one of a large family of 12 children.

She is the daughter of the late Martin Cummins and Mary Cummins of Cloughmartin. Living in the United States and a freelance writer for the past 15 years, she has now penned her first book, titled ‘The Modern Voice of an Irish Immigrant’.

Imelda emigrated to the United States in the late 80s, originally intending to spend a year or so there, but having met her husband during that time, she made the U.S. her permanent residence.

She now holds dual citizenship. She comes home to Ireland as frequently as her life permits; she and her husband (A Master Jeweler/Designer) run a business together, he designs for their exclusive custom design jewelry showroom and she takes care of all the paperwork.
