The National Learning Network Clonmel held its awards ceremony at The Talbot HotelClonmel.
The National Learning Network Area Manager, Kitty Galvin Hennessy initiated the ceremony with a very warm welcome to all attending before handing over to Josh McCarthy and Mickey English who were compere for the awards ceremony. Both Josh and Mickey are current students at the National Learning Network.
Guest Speakers at the ceremony included Cllr Pat English, Mayor of Clonmel, Johnny Petit (Regional Manager, National Learning Network), Matthew Ryan (Training Services Manager, Tipperary ETB) and Orla Slattery (Disability Manager, HSE South Tipperary).
Sinead Kearns (former student gave an inspiring speech about their experiences as NLN students. Sinead spoke about her journey from the National Learning Network to her current employment and her work plans for her future.
A reflection by Emily a current student of the Retail Skills programme was read by her Instructor Fiona O'Grady. In this she speaks about her time in NLN so far and how much confidence she has gained since attending the NLN and where she plans to go in the future.
The Mayor of Clonmel, Cllr Pat English presented QQI, ICDL and ICDL Advanced certificates to students attending the ceremony. An Employer’s award was presented by Michelle Power (NLN) to representatives from Mr Price Clonmel and to Maxi Zoo Clonmel. In recognition to their support to the NLN student in their workplaces.
Also in attendance were representatives of other local community and sporting bodies including Hillview Sports Centre, Tipperary Sports Partnership and Clonmel Swimming pool. Each of these organisations have provided invaluable support to the students of the National Learning Network during 2024.
A particularly special award, the Roseville Community Student Award, was presented to Siobhain O’Donnell by Gerry Burke (NLN). This award is presented annually to the student that has contributed significantly to the Roseville Community in the last year.
The National Learning Network Clonmel isn’t just about academic development; they also encourage students to engage in other activities. This holistic approach to education aims to make the student a more rounded individual.
