Tipperary County Council spent over €9million on roadworks in Q3 of 2024

Tipperary County Council spent over €20million on various services in one three-month period of last year.

According to the local authority’s list of purchase orders for quarter three of 2024, Tipperary County Council spent a total of €20,782,027 on goods and services.

The published list of purchase orders only includes items that cost over €20,000.

The Q3 spending figures were the most recent figures that were available.

The largest council spend was on roadworks, with various firms being paid for works on roads across the county during Q3.

Over €9million was paid out by Tipperary County Council for roadworks across the county in the third quarter of last year.

The single largest amount paid out by the local authority was €677,657 to Glas Civil Engineering Limited, while the smallest amount was a figure of €20,106.

Amounts paid out for roadworks covered materials, plant hire, engineering and environmental services, but the figures didn’t give any specifics as to what projects the money was spent on.

Elsewhere, Tipperary County Council spent over €3million on housing support services during the same period of 2024.

€3,718,968 was paid to Focus Ireland, Cluid Housing Association, and the Good Shepherd Centre in Kilkenny for housing support services during this period, while just under €120,000 was spent on housing provision during the same period.

Consultancy fees set the local authority back another €1,684,308 over the three-month period of quarter three of 2024, the figures showed.

The largest single amount that was paid out in consultancy fees was €117,473, which was paid to Colfix Dublin, the records showed.

Tipperary County Council also spent over €340,000 on mobile home purchases in quarter three of the year.

€1,145,038 was spent on building works during the quarter, while a further €1,008,111 was spent on housing works.

Tipperary County Council paid a total of €556,159 for IT services in Q3, while €185,096 was paid for recycling.
Fire equipment set the council back €28,487, and tree care services cost another €21,525.

The local authority also paid €33,341 to Harris Maxus Unlimited Company for the purchase of a vehicle, while the purchase of equipment set the Council back a total of €49,018.

Circle K were paid a total of €20,339 for fuel during the three-month period, while the purchase of library books cost the Council €21,090.
