A section of the M7 motorway in north Tipperary will be temporarily closed overnight from Friday into early Saturday, with motorists advised to follow alternative routes and traffic management instructions.
Tipperary County Council has announced the urgent closure of the westbound lanes between Junction 24 and Junction 26. The closure will be in effect from 11 p.m. on Friday, March 28, until 1am on Saturday, March 29.
During this period, westbound traffic will be redirected at Junction 24 onto the R445 through Nenagh town, continuing via the R445 and N52 Limerick road before rejoining the motorway at Junction 26.
Vehicles on the R498 Thurles road intending to head west on the M7 will need to divert at Junction 25, travel through Nenagh via the R498, and follow the R445 and N52 before re-entering the M7 at Junction 26.
Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times, and temporary traffic management measures will be in place.
The closure follows a request from An Garda Síochána to accommodate the safe transport of an exceptionally large load.
