A quiet first half from McCarthy, aside from his ridiculously accurate free taking, he burst into life in the second half and had his marker Ian Kenny on toast at times.
He hit two wides from play in the first half, but his playmaking came to the fore as the game wore on, setting up scores, winning frees, and feeding Oisin O'Donoghue for the winning goal late on.
