A European competition has honoured municipalities and villages across the continent for their horticultural displays. Entente Florale, now in its 50th year, rewards efforts to improve the quality of life in local communities through environmental and aesthetic enhancement.

The anniversary event was held in Slovenia over the weekend, where Terryglass, a village in County Tipperary, emerged among the top prize-winners. The North Tipp community was awarded a gold medal, placing it in the ranks of Europe’s most attractive rural settlements.
The accolade was welcomed by the Terryglass Tidy Towns group, which credited the award to the “hard work, dedication and community spirit” of local residents. For a village of modest size, the achievement underscores the value of collective effort in sustaining rural vitality—and in proving that Europe’s smallest places can flourish on the biggest stages.
