Mid Tipperary U15A Hurling Championship Final
Moycarkey Borris 3-9
Boherlahan Dualla 2-9
Storm Amy played her part in Holycross on Saturday as a game of two halves was edged by Moycarkey Borris in a highly entertaining, quality Mid Tipperary U15A Hurling Championship final on Saturday afternoon.
For the victors, they were toasting the dynamic inside forward duo of Adam Rice and Sean Sheehan at the final whistle, with the pair registering all of their team's scores between them in an impressive showing.
With the assistance of the storm in the first half, the pair ran amok as the eventual winners raced into a 2-3 to 1-1 lead after 15 minutes, and only for some last-ditch defending and some key stops from Boherlahan Dualla goalie Luke Keane, it could have been more as the Sash were highly exposed at times early on.
However, despite Moycarkey taking a 2-6 to 1-2 lead in at the break, the game was back on in a big way by the 43rd minute in the second half as Donnacha Harrington’s goal, along with numerous points from around the park had the game back to a single point and the game finely balanced with the final quarter to come.
But it was the impressive running of Adam Rice that changed the game for Moycarkey Borris, receiving a bullet pass to hand in the 45th minute before powering through the Boherlahan defence and hitting the back of the net.
That was the key score for Moycarkey Borris, who repelled attack after attack from a stubborn and brave Boherlahan team but despite their best efforts they just couldn’t find their way to get the scores they needed.
