Tipperary GAA's fantastic five drive University of Limerick to historic first division 1 title

UL claimed the Senior Division 1 Higher Education League title for the first time on Wednesday night with a hard-fought win over NUIG at Maguires Field, a result that delivered a major boost for Tipperary football.

The side is managed by Tipp native David Power, and five members of the Tipperary senior and U20 panels of 2025 featured prominently throughout the campaign, once again playing key roles in the final.

Paddy O’Keeffe of Moyle Rovers, Charlie King of Ballina, Killian Butler of Moyle Rovers, Jack O’Neill of Ardfinnan and James Morris of Clonmel Commercials all contributed as UL controlled long stretches of the contest and resisted a late surge from NUIG to secure the historic victory on home soil.

The focus now shifts to the Sigerson Cup in the New Year, where the same group is expected to be central to UL’s challenge.
