Tipperary athlete with devastating turn of pace enjoyed very successful year

Emer Brennan won the Irish Under 20 Indoor 800 metres title

2025 was an honours-laden year for Emer Brennan.

Her success has been rewarded with an Annerville award, which she and the other Tipperary amateur sports stars of the year will receive from the Tipperary United Sports Panel at a function at the Talbot Hotel Clonmel next Saturday night, January 10.

Emer's highlights included racing for Ireland in 4x400 metres Relay at the prestigious Bauhaus Junior Gala in Mannheim, Germany, recording a season's best in the process.

She was also selected as reserve on the Irish 4x400 metres Relay Squad at the European Under 20 Championships in Finland.

The devastating turn of pace produced by Emer to win the Irish Under 20 Indoor 800 metres title in March marked the Clonmel AC athlete out as one to watch for the seasons ahead.

Following wins at regional and Munster schools level, the Presentation Clonmel student secured that mark when winning silver in 56.15 seconds at the All-Ireland Schools Championships in Tullamore.

Some of Emer's other standout achievements included smashing the 27 year-old championship record when capturing the East Munster Schools 400 metres title.

Throughout the year she claimed victory at county level or above over no fewer than seven distances, ranging from 60 to 4,000 metres.
