Brilliant Tipperary clubs have major success at Munster Indoor Athletics Championships
Munster Junior, Senior and Masters Indoor Athletics Championships took place in Nenagh recently

Tipperary athletes delivered a series of outstanding performances at the recent Munster Junior, Senior and Masters Indoor Athletics Championships in Nenagh.
Clonmel AC’s Emer Brennan was one of the stars of the junior women’s competition, completing an impressive sprint double by winning gold in both the 200m and 400m.
Clubmate Cara Ryan matched that achievement in the field events, clearing 1.65m to win the high jump before producing a superb 5.61m leap to secure gold in the long jump.
Nenagh Olympic’s Aine Frawley delivered a strong performance to claim silver in the long jump with 5.40m.
In the throws, Clara Miniter (Nenagh Olympic) claimed double silver in the shot and weight for distance, narrowly missing the 6m mark in the latter. Morgan Deasy (Borrisokane AC) secured gold in the weight for distance and silver in the shot with a good 12.12m throw.
Clodagh Donohoe (Nenagh Olympic) showed a welcome return to form, winning the triple jump with 10.43m.
On the track, Jennifer O’Leary (Nenagh Olympic) ran a composed race to win the 1500m, and taking silver in the 400m with a comfortable 59 sec run. Niamh Clarke (Clonmel AC) took gold in the 3,000m walk in 16:37.
Moyne AC took a well deserved Bronze in the women’s 4 X 200m Relay. In the Junior Men’s events, Ronan Ryan (Nenagh Olympic) delivered a superb sprint double, claiming gold in both the 60m and 200m with commanding performances.
Cormac Healon (Templemore AC) also impressed, securing bronze in a very competitive 200m final.
Senior Championships
Aisling Dwyer (Moyne AC) took home the bronze with a good throw of 5.14m in the weight for distance.
Nenagh Olympic’s Joe Miniter was in dominant form in the jumps, winning the long jump with 6.41m and completing the double with victory in the triple jump with a 12.75m effort.
Josh Egan (Nenagh Olympic) claimed gold in the 60m hurdles and added bronze in the long jump with 6.24m. Jack Ryan (Templemore AC) powered to victory in the 400m, while Alex Ryan secured bronze in the 60m.
Masters Championships
The Masters competition once again demonstrated the depth of experience and quality across the county.
Alexander Ross (Coolquill AC) won the M75 3,000m walk, while John Laste (Fethard AC) claimed gold in the M60 3,000m walk. Michael Fitzgerald (mooreabby Milers) took the 200m Gold in the M40 category.
Larry O’Grady (Mooreabbey Milers) delivered a double gold performance in the M65 category, winning the shot put (9.67m) and weight for distance (6.92m).
Noel Montieth (Borrisokane AC) matched that achievement in the M80 category, winning both the shot put and weight for distance (6.25m) and later added the long jump gold with 3.33m leap. Michael Henry (Clonmel AC) secured silver in the M45 shot put with 6.83m.
On the track, Tony Fitzgerald (Nenagh Olympic) won the M50 800m, while Noel Howley claimed gold in the M75 800m. Mike Croome Carroll (Fethard AC) took silver in the M70 60m.
Bernadette Spillane (Moyne AC) was outstanding in the W40 category, completing a sprint treble by winning the 60m, 200m and 400m. Esme Alexander (Coolquill AC) secured gold in the W65 200m.
Across all grades, the championships highlighted the strength, depth and competitive spirit of Tipperary athletics, with athletes of all ages delivering performances of the highest standard.
