Tipperary camogie supporters have plenty to look forward to this spring after confirmation that the Premier County will once again be part of a major Munster championship double header at FBD Semple Stadium.

Munster GAA has confirmed it will partner with Munster Camogie and Munster Ladies Football in 2026 to provide four curtain-raisers ahead of key Munster Senior Hurling and Football Championship fixtures across April and May.

For Tipperary, the headline date is Sunday, April 19, when both the county’s senior camogie and senior hurling sides take on Cork in Thurles.

On Sunday, April 19 at FBD Semple Stadium, the action gets underway at 2pm with the Munster Senior Camogie Championship quarter-final between Tipperary and Cork.

That will be followed at 4pm by the Munster Senior Hurling Championship clash between the same counties.

Munster GAA Chairman Tim Murphy said the continuation of the initiative highlights the growing bond between the provincial bodies.

“The inclusion of four curtain-raisers, three Camogie and one Ladies Football, ahead of our Munster Senior Hurling and Football Championship games once again highlights the strong and growing partnership between our respective organisations.

"It is very pleasing to see this initiative continue into 2026, and we are committed to further strengthening the connection between our games in the years ahead,” he said.

Should Tipperary overcome Cork in the quarter-final, they will feature in the Munster Senior Camogie Championship semi-final on Sunday, April 26 at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

That game, fixed for 12 noon, will see Limerick face either Cork or Tipperary, ahead of the Munster Senior Hurling Championship meeting of Cork and Limerick at 2pm.

Munster Camogie Chairperson Christine Ryan welcomed the continued collaboration.

“Munster Council Camogie is delighted to once again work in partnership with Munster GAA to see three of the four Munster Senior Camogie Championship matches staged as curtain-raisers to the Munster Hurling Championship.

"Our players relish the opportunity to perform on Munster Championship matchdays, experiencing the unique atmosphere of packed stadiums.

"These occasions play a vital role in raising the profile of camogie and showcasing our game to an even wider audience,” she said.

The Munster Senior Camogie Championship Final is scheduled for either Saturday, May 16 at FBD Semple Stadium, Thurles, or Sunday, May 17 at TUS Gaelic Grounds, Limerick. The date, time and venue will be confirmed once the finalists are known.

If the final takes place on Saturday in Thurles, it will precede the Munster Senior Hurling Championship meeting of Tipperary and Clare. Alternatively, if staged on Sunday in Limerick, it will form part of a double header with Limerick v Waterford in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship.

For Tipperary, there is the very real prospect of contesting provincial silverware on the same day as the senior hurlers are in championship action, another significant platform for the county’s camogie players.

While not involving Tipperary, the Munster Senior Ladies Football Championship Round 3 clash between Kerry and Cork on Sunday, May 10 will also act as a curtain-raiser to the Munster Senior Football Championship Final.

Throw-in for the ladies’ game is 11.45am, with the men’s final at 1.45pm. The venue is yet to be confirmed.

Munster LGFA President Lorraine Royle said the continued partnership is a major boost for the women’s game in the province.

“Munster Ladies Football is thrilled to again be included as part of Munster GAA’s curtain raiser for the upcoming Munster Football Championship.

"This continued partnership is an important acknowledgement of the talent, commitment, and growing profile of our players,” she said.
