Donaghmore Community Alert update

Donaghmore Community Alert committee met on Tuesday last and decided to make direct representation to the Minister for Justice and Equality Charlie Flanagan regarding the impasse on the Data Controller issue preventing local communities from installing Community CCTV Systems and also preventing the allocation of the promised Grants to help fund this essential part of Rural community safety. Donaghmore community held a major fundraising event 2 years ago and raised sufficient funds if topped up by the promised Grant to install cameras at ALL of the entry and exit points in our area. This money is sitting in our account waiting for our application to install the system to be sanctioned.
Located between the M7 and the M8 makes us sitting ducks for gangs using the motorway network to prey on communities. In the meantime we continue to provide Text Alert messages to our members and are happy to pass on any information given to us of suspicious activity in
our area.
