Tipperary walkers embark on 20th Autumn Challenge this weekend
There are now more than 160 participants booked for the Autumn Charity Challenge in Westport, Co Mayo which takes place this coming weekend for the 20th consecutive time. Based in the award-winning Hotel Westport, the event is open to all comers and offers walks to suit every fitness level while raising funds for people with special needs. Originally the brainchild of Michael Sutton and John G O'Dwyer, the walk leaders for the Challenge have, ever since, been drawn from the Mid Tipp Hillwalkers club. Hikes on offer this year include: the Tochar Phadraig Pilgrim Path, Clare Island, the Nephin Mountains and Westport Heritage Trail. The funds raised will be presented to deserving charities at an event in Upperchurch later in the year.
