8yr old Ellie Rose Richardson from Borrisokane, Tippeary
Eight year old Ellie Rose Richardson, Borrisokane, Co.Tipperary suffers with Global developmental delay and cortical dysplasia. Ellie takes a lot of medication, she is very courageous, and has great temperament, she has many medical ailments but this does not stop her smiling and filling a room with laughter. She has defied all odds and pushed every barrier that has been thrown her way. She attends main stream school with the help her of her SNA and loves to be life and soul of her surroundings. Ellie will receive her National Children of Courage Award at the Share a Dream – Dream Ball on Saturday 24th November along with 7 other children.
According to Ellie’s aunt Pamela that nominated her “She has showed great determination to get by day to day. Ellie takes regular seizures as a result of her illness, but shows great courage and determination with all her medical appointments. She is a big fan of the Munster rugby team. Ellie is a very kind and caring child despite all her medical ailments.”
The 13th Dream Ball and National Children of Courage Awards takes place in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Limerick on Saturday November 24th. The annual gala hosted by the Share A Dream Foundation is the only event of its kind in Europe and promises to be a glamorous, magical and very special evening. Muireann O’Connell of the TV3’s Six O’Clock Show and Today FM will be one of the many celebrity supporters in attendance with 2FM’s Will Leahy acting as Master of Ceremonies.
Eight very special children, who have shown unbelievable courage and determination in the face of illness have been selected from nominations from all over Ireland. Their determination to get as much out of life as possible in spite of their illness or disability will be honoured and their dreams will come true on the night.
“Seriously ill and disabled children in Ireland deserve to be recognized and honored for their absolute courage and determination to get as much quality of life as they can. The National Children of Courage Awards shows these children and their families that they are not forgotten about and there is light at the end of a very dark tunnel,” said Shay Kinsella Founder of the Share a Dream Foundation.
The Dream Ball is a night celebrating life, full of very happy memories with wonderful entertainment, fine food, dancing till late and a magical feeling for everyone attending in sharing in the amazing achievement of those 8 Children of Courage what a lovely beautiful Christmas story.
