Clonmel women take team bronze medals at Tipperary Senior Cross Country Championships

Club members made the short trip to Cashel last Sunday for the County Senior Cross Country Championships. Held on a very good course, it was great to see our members running so well.

In the women’s 6k race over 3 laps, we saw great performances from Elaine Horgan 8th in 29 mins 8 secs, Sarah Whelan 9th in 29 mins 32 secs and Anne Marie Halpin 10th in 29 mins 52 secs.

These three athletes combined very well to win the inter-club bronze medals, edged out of the silver medals by just one point.

Then our team of Michelle Doherty 11th in 30 mins 32 secs, Jennifer Quinlan 13th in 31mins 48 secs and Marina Quinlan 19th in 34 mins went one better when winning the silver medals in the B Section.

In the men’s 10k race over five laps we also saw some great running. None more so than from debutant Aidan Flannery, who was competing in his first cross country race and ran brilliantly when finishing 14th in 44 mins 11 secs.

We also saw good performances from Conor Fleming 18th in 44 mins 50 secs, David O’Kelly 20th in 45 mins 5 secs, Barry Horgan 24th in 46 mins 30 secs and Eelco Beckers 27th in 47 mins 7 secs, with the team finishing in fifth place.
