A MOTORIST who was detected travelling at more than twice the speed limit later tested positive for cannabis, gardai have revealed.
In a post on social media, gardai say members of the Tipperary Roads Policing Unit were carrying out patrols in the Roscrea sub district over the weekend when they encountered a vehicle travelling at 111km/h in a 50km/h zone.
"The motorist was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a positive result for cannabis," a spokesperson said.

A blood sample taken from the driver has been sent for further analysis.
The motorist is facing a fine and penalty points for the speeding offence and a potential disqualification if prosecuted and convicted of drug driving.
