A road in Tipperary has reopened yesterday after being closed by Tipperary County Council last Thursday for emergency repairs.
In an update posted online yesterday, Indepdendent Councillor Máirín McGrath posted an update on the recently closed road in Newcastle.
"Following the unplanned closure of Skeaghatoureen bridge in Middlequarter/Killnacarriga Newcastle on the Mellary road last Thursday evening, I’m glad that emergency repair works have now been completed to the bridge structure and it is reopened in the last few minutes," said the councillor.

"Many thanks to Tipperary County Council and their contractors, Truir, who came on board quickly to address the structural issue and ensure a swift repair and reopening for locals. I appreciate the detour was far from ideal but glad the works are completed."
Cllr McGrath said that while further works will be required on the bridge at a later stage, the good news is that traffic is now permitted over the bridge following the urgent repairs.
