Motorists warned of hazardous conditions as Met Éireann issues Status Yellow ice alert

Met Éireann has issued a countrywide Status Yellow Low Temperature/ Ice weather alert. 

Motorists are being warned of icy stretches across Ireland, which will reportedly lead to hazardous travelling conditions, especially on untreated roads and paths. 

Wintry showers in the northwest and southwest can be expected with accumulations possible, especially in mountainous areas, leading to disruption. 

The warning is in place until 12pm today (Tuesday January 17).
