Nicola Coughlan channels trend for quiet luxury at Emilia Wickstead show

Derry Girls star Nicola Coughlan sat front row at Emilia Wickstead’s latest fashion show.

The Galway-born actor, 36 – who also stars in hit Netflix show Bridgerton – wore a simple outfit of a green coat and matching skirt with a pink top underneath.

With sleek gold jewellery and her hair in loose waves, Coughlan’s ensemble seemed to be tapping into the ‘quiet luxury’ trend, which is all about understated style that oozes elegance and wealth.

Coughlan was front row to watch New Zealand designer Wickstead’s spring/summer 2024 London Fashion Week show, held at the Royal Academy of Arts.

Wickstead is known for bright colours and lots of florals, and that was certainly present in the summery collection.

Orange and yellow striped shift dresses and Mod-style mini skirts gave a youthful vibe to the looks on show, while slouchy denim tailoring channelled more cutting-edge fashion.

Demure floral gowns permeated the extensive collection – dresses you can imagine the Princess of Wales, a long-time fan of Wickstead’s work, might be keeping a keen eye on.

The show took us on a journey – from easy-to-wear shift dresses that would be perfect on a French Riviera summer holiday, to flirty sequinned party dresses, before ending with red carpet-worthy silver gowns.

Wickstead hinted at the inspirations behind the collection in a series of Instagram posts ahead of the show, featuring black and white photographs of young people on the beach or sunbathing by a pool.

Coughlan wasn’t the only celebrity in attendance – also sitting front row was model Erin O’Connor and actor Zawe Ashton.

Coughlan has built a relationship with Wickstead, previously wearing a custom-made black brocade two-piece by the designer to the Glamour Women of the Year Awards in November 2022.

Wickstead made a brief appearance at the end of the show, accepting audience applause with a wave, wearing a simple black skirt and brown top.
