Photographs of the drugs seized in Cavan have been released by gardai
TWO men have been arrested by gardai following the seizure of almost €1m worth of cannabis during separate operations.
On Monday, as part of an intelligence-led joint operation conducted in Cavan Revenue officers seized approximately 19.1kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €382,000.
Members of the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the Cavan Divisional Detective Unit provided support during the operation.
"One male in his 30s was arrested by An Garda Síochána and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda Station in the Cavan area," said a garda spokesperson who added that investigations are ongoing.
In a separate operation conducted in west Dublin last Thursday Revenue officers seized approximately 29.46kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €589,200.
The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the Clondalkin District Drugs Unit.
A man in his 40s was arrested by An Garda Síochána, he was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Clondalkin garda station in Dublin and was later charged with offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
He appeared before the courts at the weekend.
