A tourist travelling Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way got "stranded" in a rural pub after her van got stuck in the mud, leading to one of the best nights of her trip.
Vanlifer Jess Glynn has been travelling the country in her converted campervan and posting her adventures to her TikTok account (@itsjessglynn) - and she certainly made the best of a bad situation during her travels in Mayo recently.
After realising that her van was stuck in the mud, Jess, who documented the experience in a video posted to TikTok, was forced to "hang her head in shame" and walk into the local pub in Ballycastle, Healy's, to find some assistance. The pub owner agreed to help her first thing in the morning and so began "one of the best nights of her entire trip" involving wine, music, company and craic.
"Freaking stuck in the mud. God damn it. Cannot believe I've done this," Jess exclaims at the start of the video as she sits behind the steering wheel of her van.
"Now I have to go hold my head in shame, go into the pub, and require some assistance. Oh my God, I'm such an idiot."
Little did Jess know her luck was about to change.
"When I walked into the pub, there were four local men sitting at the bar, and the owner told me he was gonna help me out first thing in the morning.
"So now that I was there for the night, the lads started buying me glasses of wine. And I was not going to say no to that," she says with a chuckle.
"And it only got better from there when I discovered one of the guys could play a bloody tin whistle."
In the video, Jess shows a host of locals including one man playing a tin whistle while one woman plays the guitar softly.
"Getting stranded in the car park of a pub in Mayo turned out to be one of the best nights of my entire trip," Jess reflects.
"I've now had four glasses of wine and it's my bedtime.
Finishing her video the following morning before setting off for her next destination, Jess said: "Please support this local business. This is Healy's pub down in Ballycastle.
"Not only did they help me get out of the mud, they also gave me the best memory to look back on."
