Searches in relation to the seizure of a whopping 546kg of synthetic drugs at an Irish port have now extended to a third county.
According to An Garda Síochána, searches by Garda personnel and Revenue’s Customs Service took place at Cork Port on Friday (February 16) morning and resulted in the discovery of a drugs haul worth over €32 million.
Follow up searches were conducted in Kerry and Cork, which led to the arrests of two men in their 40s and the seizure of two firearms.
As part of the ongoing investigations, Gardaí also conducted a search at a premises in Waterford City on Sunday evening (February 18).
The men continue to be held at Garda Stations in the Southern Region under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.
