Tributes have poured in for Andrew Scott's mum, Nora, who suddenly died before Mother's Day.

Andrew Scott and his family have been left heartbroken after his mother passed away from illness, a couple of days before Mother’s Day.

Surrounded by her loving family and best friend Anne, Nora Scott passed away in Dublin’s St Vincent’s Hospital on March 7.

“It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the passing of Nora Scott (née Boyle), beloved wife of Jim, mother of Sarah, Andrew and Hannah,” announced the family.

Since the heartbreaking news broke, tributes have been pouring in for Nora, who has been remembered for her work as an arts teacher and her 'sharp wit'.

"Jim, Sarah, Andrew and Hannah, I'm so very sorry for your loss. I have many happy memories of going over to the house nearly 30 years ago to do drawing classes with Nora - particular highlight being when she told me she thought I was better than my elder brother! I always enjoyed meeting her in later years - she had such a sharp wit and was always ready for a laugh. May she rest in peace," wrote one of her friends in tribute.

"My sincere condolences to the Scott family. Nora was my art teacher and I credit her with getting us to think outside the box, give it our all, fill the pg was one of her advice and see us very much as individuals. She wrote me such a lovely and unique reference to get my place in art college. One of many she inspired and tutored. Rest in peace," a former student paid tribute.

Nora is predeceased by her parents Kathleen and James, her sisters Chris, Kathleen and Joanna, her brothers, Cullen, Eugene and Jim. Nora will be deeply missed by her beloved husband Jim, her loving children Sarah, Andrew and Hannah, much loved daughter-in-law Janine, sisters Gertrude and Molly and brother Andrew, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephew, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

May her gentle soul Rest in Peace.

She will be reposing in Massey Bros Funeral Home, Blackrock (A94X308) on Monday, March 11 from 5pm –7pm. Nora’s Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at 11am in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Donnybrook, Dublin 4, followed by private cremation.
