'You'll live in our hearts forever' - Tributes paid to 'gentle' gran killed in Meath crash

Patricia 'Tish' Reilly from Candlehill in Tara died in a tragic single-car crash at around 1am on Monday in Ratoath, Co Meath.

Local communities in Co Meath are in mourning and tributes have poured in following the tragic death of Patricia Reilly, following a road traffic collision in Ratoath in the early hours of Monday morning.

Patricia, of Candlehill in Oberstown, died when the car she was travelling in was involved in a collision near the grotto in Ratoath, opposite Corballis Shopping Centre, around 1am on Monday morning. Patricia, known to many as Tish, was the driver and sole occupant of the car, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body was removed to the mortuary at Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, where a post-mortem examination was arranged.

Aged 68, Patricia (Tish) was a member of the Costello family of Old Road, Dunsany, and was married to Skryne native, Bernard (Barney) Reilly.

Tish and Barney lived in London, England and raised their family there, only returning in recent years to live at Candlehill. She was tragically predeceased by her son, Wayne, in the UK.

Patricia is survived by Barney and their family, Keith, Trevor and Shelley; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Faye, brothers Eddie, England, and Paul, Dunsany; sisters, Mary Denning, Navan, Rita Reilly, Navan, and Geraldine in England; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In a touching tribute o rip.ie, a "dear friend" said: "I have absolutely no words. Tish you will live within our broken hearts forever. Rest in peace".

A local resident near the crash left another message, saying they "did know her but saw the aftermath of the accident & left some flowers".

Many remembered the caring friend and family member fondly, with another mourner adding that "Tish was a lovely Lady, I am deeply saddened to hear this news today".

Funeral details have been announced, with Patricia's death notice on rip.ie stating: “Reposing from St. Joseph's Chapel of Rest Old Johnstown, Navan (C15 C425) on Friday afternoon from 5pm to 7pm .

“Arriving to St. Colmcille's Church, Skryne on Saturday for 11am Funeral Mass which can be viewed live on Joe Finnegan YouTube. Cremation will take place in Dardistown crematorium at 1:30pm.”
