BREAKING: Gardaí search house as part of investigation into murder of Kyran Durnin (6)

Kyran Durnin was last seen aged just six-years-old

A search operation is being carried out at a domestic residence in Drogheda on Wednesday, 26 February as part of the investigation into the disappearance and murder of six-year-old Kyran Durnin.

Gardaí suspect that Kyran, who was only reported missing in August of last year, might have died in 2022 when he was last seen aged just six-years-old.

A murder investigation was launched in October 2024 and a man and woman were since arrested in connection to case, however both were released without charge.

Gardaí said that the purpose of this search is to discover any evidence which might provide information as to Kyran's whereabouts or what happened to the child who would now be eight-years-old.

The house being searched on Wednesday will be subject to technical and forensic examinations.

An Garda Síochána has warned the public about speculation, rumours and theories surrounding the case, saying that "most of which is inaccurate and misinformed." They added: "Such ill-informed public commentary is not only disruptive to the Garda investigations but also adds to the trauma experienced by victims families."

Gardaí have renewed their appeal to the public for information. They said: "Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, will be welcomed by the investigation team. This information will be treated in the strictest confidence."

The Garda investigation team can be contacted at Drogheda Garda Station on 041 987 4200 , the Garda Confidential Line on (1800) 666 111 or any Garda Station.
