A man aged in his 60s has died following a road crash in Co Galway.
The man died following the incident in Tuam on Friday night.
A Garda spokesperson said they were alerted to a collision involving one vehicle on a local road in Blackacre at about 10.30pm.
“The driver, a man in his 60s and the sole occupant of the vehicle, was found unresponsive at the scene,” they said.
“He was transported by ambulance to University Hospital Galway, where he was later pronounced deceased.
“The road has been closed to facilitate a forensic examination by Garda.
“The local coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.”
Local diversions are in place while the investigation takes place.
Gardai have urged any witnesses who may have information about the incident to come forward.
