Hurling for Cancer Research: Star-studded charity match time, TV details, tickets and teams

A who's who of Irish sport will swap their usual arenas for the hurling pitch this Monday night as Hurling for Cancer Research returns to Netwatch Cullen Park, Carlow, for its 14th edition.

Founded by horse racing legend Jim Bolger and jockey Davy Russell, the charity match has become one of the most anticipated fixtures in the sporting calendar - raising over €1.66 million for the Irish Cancer Society to date, with hopes of smashing the €2 million milestone this year.

The unique clash sees rivals unite for one night only, with past line-ups featuring All-Ireland hurling heroes, racing champions, Olympians, and even a few famous Irish faces from outside the sporting world.

Fans can expect plenty of skill, laughs and autograph opportunities, as players and celebrities mingle with supporters on the pitch afterwards.

What's at stake?

While there's no cup on the line, the stakes couldn't be higher for the cause. Irish Cancer Society CEO, Averil Power, said: "In the 1980s, just three in 10 people survived cancer, that has now doubled to six in 10. We won't stop until 10 in 10 people survive cancer."

"That is why events like Hurling for Cancer Research and the incredible funds they raise are so vital."
