A motorcyclist who was injured in a crash with a car on Sunday has died.
Emergency services attended the scene of the crash following a report of a serious injury collision on Castlebar Road in Newport, which occurred at around 4.50pm on Sunday.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s, was discovered with serious injuries and received medical treatment.
No other injuries were reported at the time.
The injured man was taken to Mayo University hospital, where he was said to be “in a critical condition”.
On Tuesday, An Garda Siochana said the man had since died.
The road was preserved for technical examination but has since reopened.
A man aged in his 60s was arrested in connection with the investigation, but was released without charge pending further investigation.
Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
